Small Group Mentoring
with Candace Moss
What’s the most overlooked tool for nervous system regulation?
Self-Compassion
Even when we realize how important it is, many of us struggle to truly understand what self-compassion looks like, let alone how to practice it.
Do you find it hard to be kind to yourself? Have you spent years being your own toughest critic, always pushing, always striving, rarely pausing to offer yourself grace? You're not alone.
I spent the first four decades of my life being incredibly hard on myself. It wasn't until I found amazing teachers and a supportive community that I learned the profound power of self-love, self-care, and self-celebration. More recently, I’ve seen the direct impact that self-compassion has on the nervous system.
Now, it's my pleasure to share those transformative steps and strategies with you.
In this 5-week small group mentoring series, we'll embark on a gradual journey to rewire your brain and heart to embrace self-love for more sustainable self-regulation.
Retrain your brain with the profound power of self-love
Cultivating self-compassion is not selfish; it's the most impactful gift you can give to yourself and, by extension, to everyone around you.
In this five-part mentorship series, we’ll explore…
Understanding the "Why": We'll touch on a bit of the fascinating science behind why and how self-compassion literally changes your body chemistry.
🧡
Step-by-Step Transformation: Our primary focus will be on practical, actionable steps that will help you start to see yourself from a new perspective, slowly letting go of judgments and gradually finding new ways to love and care for yourself that feel authentic for YOU.
🧡
Simple, Powerful Exercises: Easy-to-integrate exercises you can weave into your daily life. We'll start with the foundational elements of basic kindness and courtesy towards yourself, and build from there.
🧡
Enhance Your Current Practice: For those already using Primal Trust tools, this series will show you how to layer in self-compassion to amplify the results you're seeking. We won't be adding more time to your daily routine, just enhancing the effectiveness of the time you already spend.

MEMBERS SAY
"I feel like I have made a ton of progress over these past 4 weeks! I had a lot of pretty big and difficult things come up this month and yet I have been able to handle it all with so much more grace and a sense of calm security and that is significantly new and different for me. I have also been amazed that I have been seeing so much resistance I've had, either physical or mental, just sort of melt away! And a lot of that resistance I've had for a really long time! I feel like even just this short amount of time of practicing self compassion and being really gentle, committed, and tuned in to my inner self has sort of unlocked a door for me that I have been bumping up against for years! I am truly excited to continue on this journey!
~ Erin
“I think the biggest things are I’m being gentler with myself and I’m giving myself compassion for probably the first time in my life, which is huge. Starting to accept myself more which also is just massive and accept that I am sensitive and that’s OK. So thank you so much. This has been incredibly helpful in just a few sessions, which is amazing.”
~ C.S.
"I've really been enjoying the sessions and getting connected to my body in a new way. I love having "permission" to prioritize self care! I'm sad that there's only one more session left!”
~ Mandy
"I thought the support was really, really great. It's so easy just to feel so isolated. To get in there and hear other people…. I realized, 'Hey, I'm not alone in this.’
Also, being able to hear other people and see other people's process... It was really, really helpful. I got out of it more than I expected, for sure."
~ Megan
“Candace, you have this way of being- you are just so joyful and it's radiating out of you, like a light. I want more connection with that. Your way of being is, I think, instrumental to people understanding the healing journey- how you could go from being really sick and feeling so crappy every single day to being so joyful and so vibrant. Being able to look at you as an example and see that it is possible for me is inspiring in and of itself."
~ Shannon
Is this series for you?
This group is especially for you if you resonate with any of the following…
Your inner critic is very vocal
It’s easier for you to be compassionate to others than to yourself
You feel like you’re not living up to your life responsibilities, which brings guilt or shame
You find yourself stuck in over-working or “no pain, no gain”
You’ve been using Primal Trust tools, but things don’t seem to be changing
You’ve started finding compassion for yourself, and you’re ready to make it a new way of life
You’ve struggled with perfectionism, over-achieving, or people-pleasing
You can’t even bring yourself to use the tools or “do the work”, which brings up feelings of shame or not-good-enough
You've been trying to cultivate self-love but aren't sure where to start
Struggling and suffering were valued in your family of origin
All of these are strategies we developed to survive and protect ourselves. Unfortunately, they all take a huge toll on our mind, heart, and body.
Self-compassion is a much more nourishing way to approach life, and it actually enhances all the self-healing tools we learn in Primal Trust.
Bonus! If you desire healthier, more fulfilling relationships with your family, friends, partners, and romantic interests, a loving, compassionate relationship with yourself is the most powerful place to start.

FAQs
-
Not really. During most sessions, Candace does lead a guided practice, sometimes with music, but it’s not usually movement-focused. There may be a session where one of the practices includes gentle stretching, placing hands on your body in a comforting way, or other somatic movements.
-
We hear you. This is a very common experience, and it was difficult for Candace at first too.
There’s lots of guidance already in PT around loving self-talk. So in the group series we focus mainly on other approaches. The series is called step-by-step, because we take a gradual approach, from more neutral acknowledgement of all the weight we’ve been carrying, to letting go of unrealistic expectations of ourselves, to self-forgiveness.
Loving self-talk is definitely included in the series, but it’s not the bulk of the focus. Plus, there are a variety of options that we explore, so that you can find the version that feels authentic for you.
-
Yes, small group series offered by Primal Trust mentors are solely for active Primal Trust members. This is one of the many benefits of maintaining your active PT membership. If you have paused or cancelled your membership, you’ll need to reactivate before joining a group.
-
There will not be recordings of group mentoring available.
This provides a secure environment of privacy, so that members feel free to share anything vulnerable that will help them receive the support they need.Live sessions also encourage everyone to gather each week. This consistency and co-regulation helps the nervous system feel safety and belonging. In the groups so far, there has been a lovely sense of camaraderie, which provides a deep layer of encouragement and support. 🫶🏼
Occasionally someone has a session they need to miss, and that’s totally ok. You will have access to a group document that Candace will update after each session with a few notes and your optional practice for the week. (Practices are always small, simple, customizable, and very doable.)
With the pricing of groups about 1/4 of the price per hour of 1:1 video sessions, groups are still a great value even if you miss a session.
If there’s a topic you like but the time doesn’t work, know that I’ll likely offer most of these topics regularly, and at slightly different days/times.
-
I am doing my best to provide a variety of group topics at different times. For each new batch of groups, we are aiming to offer at least one US evening option (which takes place early morning Australia time) and at least one US morning option so that members in Europe can join.
Please check back periodically to see what new groups are available. If you opt in to Candace’s Updates list here, you’ll receive an email when new group topics and dates are available.
REQUIREMENTS
You must be a current member of Primal Trust Academy. Please make sure you have completed Module 3 of Level 1, so that you have some Regulate tools available to you. I also ask that you have a basic self-regulation practice, so that you feel regulated enough to be in a small group. This could be any form of vagal toning or meditation that you do most days, even for just a few minutes. We agree as a group to refrain from symptom discussion and intense story-telling. I ask that everyone’s camera stay on during sessions, even if you are not on screen the whole time. Thank you. :-)
REFUND POLICY: Registrations are non-refundable.
Before you register, please take a few moments to check in with your body and your heart. Ask yourself if this Series is a strong YES for you right now. Take some time to review the description. Each session will be a nourishing real-time experience.
Make sure the dates/times work well for you. There will not be session recordings available. If you find you need to miss a session, please know it will be ok, and you will still receive a lot from this series.
My goal is to provide you with the deepest levels of presence and care. When you join this Small Group Series, I ask that you meet me and the group with a strong level of commitment, even if you also have some resistance.
I do not offer cancellations, transfers or refunds. It would be impossible to keep multiple waitlists and switch people around. Please honor this boundary of mine.

This Series is going to be a wonderful month of wonder, connection, growth, and delight. I look forward to working and playing with you. 💫

What members are saying…
“It really helped me feel on a deeper level. I feel like being way more conscious about being loving and nurturing toward myself has helped me so much! It has somehow helped me "feel", specifically during the C part of my ABC. It was like I didn't really know what I was aiming for before and now I can feel where I am going each time and it feels so good! I look forward to doing it (both my ABC and practicing self compassion) because it feels so good to me! I feel like learning about and practicing self compassion has helped me find a missing piece in my life and it was pretty powerful to experience it in a group of kind and supportive people on their own journeys.”
~ Erin
"I was amazed by the concept that we can meet our own needs. And I've heard that said before, and for some reason, it didn't totally land until it was in your group, and then hearing it in your group. The discussion we had really helped solidify it for me, like ‘Oh, my goodness, I can, I can meet these needs.’"
~ C.S.
"I talked so much about your group! I just loved it. I definitely liked being in community. I loved hearing from other people. I think it's very beneficial, the whole thing- so helpful. And it's definitely a good value.”
~ Lauren
"The support of this group series was really, really great. It's so easy just to feel so isolated. To get in there and hear other people…. I realized, 'Hey, I'm not alone in this.’ Also, being able to hear other people and see other people's process... It was really, really helpful. I got out of it more than I expected, for sure."
~ Megan
"I thought the group was a fantastic value. It was the same amount of money for an hour a week for four weeks as I would pay for a 55 minute session with a one-on-one mentor. It was a really affordable way for me to get some more personalized attention and... kind of iron out things that I was struggling with. There's a lot of value in having classmates and listening to their experiences too. I got a lot of really good ideas and insight from the other people in the group.”
~ Shannon
